2017 – HONDA CIVIC Si COUPE

One of the attractions that Honda will be presenting at the New York Motor Show is the new generation of the Civic Si, in both its sedan and coupe format. This is the most sporty version of the new Civic, without considering the more radical Type-R. Honda unveiled the first images and official information of the model, which for the first time fails to use the naturally aspirated 2.4-liter engine, to give way to a new 1.5-liter turbo block fueled with direct fuel injection and 205 hp of power, appearing coupled with a six-speed manual transmission of short shifts. Outwardly, the Civic Si is fitted with a black front grille, a more aggressive bumper that includes larger air intakes, a chrome plated exhaust outlet located in the center of the rear bumper and a rear aerofoil. The new Civic Si is also lighter than its predecessor, in addition to greater structural rigidity thanks to a stiffer chassis. In addition, it now offers an adaptive electric power steering, limited slip differential, adaptive dampers, stiffer springs and stabilizer bars, and 18-inch alloy wheels with 235/40 R18 tires. The driver can choose one of the two driving modes, known as ‘Normal’ and ‘Sport’, which allow the throttle and steering response to be adjusted, as well as the stiffness of the suspension according to the needs. The equipment includes automatic two zone climate control, rain sensor, automatic lights, infotainment system with touch screen of 7.0 inches, 10 speakers, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated front seats, etc.

2017 – HONDA HR-V TOURING

Honda will showcase the 2017 HR-V line during the 29th edition of the São Paulo Show. The main novelty for the model is the unprecedented Touring version, which comes to market to be the most sophisticated option of Honda’s best-selling SUV in Brazil. These are changes that reinforce the innovative look of the HR-V and extend comfort and safety with unique equipment. Externally, the Touring version differentiates itself by the new headlights in LED, with daytime running lights (DLR). In addition to extending the illumination, the new optical assembly also highlights the distinctive design of the HR-V. LED taillights follow the changes and gain a new design. Internally, the more luxurious version gets chrome trim on the doors and new equipment that enhances comfort and convenience, such as rain sensors and rear parking, internal photochromic rear view and curtain side airbags. With improvements to the full range, the vehicle received in the line 2017, presented in September, a new coating for the sides of doors, more resistant and refined, sound controls on the steering wheel also in the LX version and hooks for fixing the carpets on the floor. The LX manual now comes with 17-inch alloy wheels as standard. The HR-V EX gets automatic digital air-conditioning, gear shifting (seven CVT simulated gears) and audio system enhancements with the addition of two tweetters on the front speakers. The EXL version now includes, in addition to the standard items it already has, it now has automatic ignition headlights.   The HR-V’s revenue brings the combination of several qualities: starting with the design of a coupe, which unites the functionality of a minivan with the sturdy posture of an SUV. Add to this its innovative urban positioning, high constructive quality, safety, efficient motorization and versatility of use, which have made the model a new reference in its segment.

Maximum use of space

The interior of the Honda HR-V unites sophistication, comfort, versatility and great space for passengers and cargo, a combination of values ​​unique to the Brazilian market. Developed under the philosophy of ‘Maximum for Man, Minimum for Machine’, the HR-V revolutionizes the use of internal space thanks to the ULT (Utility Long Tall) system of seating arrangement, which allows total flexibility in the configuration of seats, maintaining optimum space in the trunk, with 437 liters. With a length of 4,295 mm, 1,586 mm of height, 2,610 mm of wheelbase, 1,770 mm of width, the HR-V also has a central positioning of the fuel tank, which also provides better weight distribution and also favors the internal space. Unpublished technologies The HR-V is the first vehicle produced in Brazil to bring electronic parking brake (EPB) and Brake Hold system as standard. With this technology, if the driver triggers the brake and keeps the car stationary for a long period of time, such as in a jam, the electric control of the parking brake is automatically activated. Even if the driver takes his foot off the pedal, the vehicle will remain braked and, when accelerating, the brake is automatically released, offering more comfort in urban traffic.

Total security

The HR-V had its proven safety by earning maximum rating on the Latin NCAP tests, with five stars regarding the protection of adult occupants and children. All versions come standard with VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist) traction control and stability and the MA-EPS (Motion Adaptive Electric Power Steering) steering system. This device analyzes the behavior of the car in a trajectory exit in a curve, helping the driver in the return of the control of the vehicle, favoring or stifling the steering mat. The model is equipped with Hill Start Assist (HSA), which keeps the vehicle braked for a few seconds to assist the exit on slopes. The Touring version is equipped with front, side and side curtain airbags.

Superior performance

The HR-V features the i-VTEC 1.8 SOHC propulsion unit, which adopts state-of-the-art FlexOne technology, dispensing the auxiliary tank for cold start, ensuring a fast and safe engine start even at low ambient temperatures. Efficient, this mechanical assembly received A grade in the energy efficiency measurement of the Brazilian Vehicle Labeling Program of Conpet. This engine generates maximum power of 140 hp at 6,500 rpm and torque of 171 Nm at 4,800 rpm with the use of gasoline – when fueled with ethanol, it is 139 hp at 6,300 rpm and 171 Nm at 5,000 rpm. In addition to the six-speed manual transmission option (exclusive to the LX), the HR-V brings the CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) type transmission option to the other versions. The EXL has fins on the steering wheel and seven shifting gears for even more dynamic driving.

Comfort and technology

The interior of the Honda HR-V, with high center console and modern instrument panel, easy to read, conveys the feel of a cockpit. The use of soft materials provides an elegant atmosphere and, in the EX, EXL and Touring versions, the air conditioning is digital with touch screen controls, which adds even more refinement to the model. In the EXL and Touring versions, the multimedia system with multi touchscreen monitor of 7.0 inches and integrated navigator to the panel with software of last generation, containing information of transit of the main capitals of the country. The hardware also allows Wi-Fi (via hotspot) connection with the use of browser for internet access and Bluetooth connection for telephone calls and audio playback. All versions are equipped with HFT (Hands Free Telephone) via steering wheel controls, preventing the driver from distracting himself or needing to take his hands off the steering wheel when answering a call. The new Touring version of the HR-V will be available at the brand’s dealerships in March 2017. The LX, EX and EXL versions in the 2017 line are already on sale all over Brazil. The HR-V is available in Brown Metallic Jupiter, Barium Metallic Gray, Platinum Metallic Silver, White Taffetá, Red Mercurial Pearly and Black Pearl Crystal. The Touring version will inaugurate the unprecedented Starry White Pearl color in the HR-V. The warranty for Honda products is three years without mileage limit.

2017 – HONDA CIVIC TYPE-R BLACK EDITION 

Taking advantage of the fact that the end of production is near, the Japanese brand has just launched the Honda Civic Type-R Black Edition, limited to only 100 copies, the last 100 production units that will hit the British roads. It aspires to become a collector’s item by combining the exterior and interior in black with different details in red. Dealers across the UK will soon receive the first units of the Civic Type-R Black Edition, which features a predominantly black interior with different details in red that add an extra sense of sportiness, while the exterior differs from the version standard thanks to the side plates located at both ends of the airfoil and finished in the same red tone of the passenger compartment. Meanwhile, under the hood hides the same 2.0-liter VTEC Turbo engine, four-cylinder and direct injection with a horsepower of 310 hp at 6,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 400 Nm at 2,500 rpm. All this energy is channeled to the front axle through a six-speed manual transmission, making it the most powerful Honda Civic Type-R ever built. Proof of this is spectacular fast lap achieved at the Nürburgring and the five records that hit European circuits. The production of the current Type-R has been limited to 2,500 units in the United Kingdom and the last 100 copies will be baptized like Honda Civic Type-R Black Edition, with a price of 32,300 pounds sterling, about 126,000 reals at the current exchange. On the other hand, Honda’s Swindon factory in southern England is gearing up to produce the next-generation Honda Civic, which will go on sale in March along with the new version of the Honda Civic Type-R, which will hit the markets during the second half of this year.
